Description
The oat plant is an annual grass with kinds and varieties adapted either to fall planting and midsummer harvest or spring planting and late summer harvest. Most oats are used for livestock feed in this country either as grain, pasture, hay or silage. Less than 5% of the total oat production in this country is used as food for human consumption. The human consumption of oat is mainly in the form of breakfast foods and oat flour.
