Description
A long-lived perennial, cool season, native densely tufted bunchgrass, growing 18 to over 36 tall. Without rhizomes, it prefers deep, well- developed, medium to fine textured soils and does best on deep, sandy loam soils. Thurbers Fescue is good to fair forage for cattle, sheep, horse, elk, and deer during the spring season. Limited in its distribution to the high mountain slopes and valley bottoms.
